Activism may be a secondary, 'arms length' aspect, but not focus, so DO will be viewed as a credible source of information
Be a collaborative, cooperative effort such as ePals (though ePals is focused on K-12 teacher-based activities)
A source of spatially-explicit information, such as the Alexandria digital library project.
To what extent can DO serve defined, purposeful communities, such a school programs or scientific groups, as well open communities where the primary focus is on a person, such as Facebook?
Contribute to awareness raising by, for example, providing a calculator for one's 'ocean wake', i.e., one's impact 'footprint.
Be a forum for on-line 'debates', with role playing and debate toward 'resolving' an issue.
